PANTENE FAQs

Comprehensive Guide to Pantene Product FAQs

Q. WHAT HAIR PRODUCTS CAUSE HAIR LOSS?

A. Topically applied hair products are not a common cause of hair loss. Hair loss from the root is caused by factors including genetics, hormonal changes, oxidative stress, dietary insufficiencies, and medical conditions.

While rare, some people may experience an allergic reaction, like an itchy or irritated scalp, to select hair care ingredients. If switching products does not resolve the scalp irritation, it is recommended to seek the advice of a dermatologist or medical expert.

Q. DOES PANTENE CAUSE HAIR LOSS?

A.Topically applied hair products, including those from Pantene, are not a common cause of hair loss. Hair loss from the root can result from various factors, including genetics, hormonal changes, oxidative stress, dietary deficiencies, and certain medical conditions. Additionally, mid-strand breakage is a frequent cause of shedding, particularly for those who regularly color or heat-style their hair. These stresses, along with everyday styling, can weaken the hair strand’s structure. Pantene offers products to tackle hair loss from the root and hair loss from breakage.

Reducing hair loss from the root

Pantene’s Abundant & Strong Collection introduces a new approach to addressing hair loss by reducing scalp oxidative stress, thereby strengthening the scalp’s hold on hair roots. This collection includes a shampoo, conditioner, and daily scalp & root serum, all built around clinically proven technology aimed at reducing oxidative stress on the scalp. The result is less hair shedding, increased hair density (1), and healthier hair in just 8 weeks.

Reducing hair loss from breakage

Pantene’s conditioning and treatment formulas feature scientifically proven ingredients that strengthen hair inside & out, helping to reduce hair loss from breakage. For example, Pantene’s Miracle Rescue Deep Repair Conditioner contains:
  • Pro-Vitamin B5 (also known as panthenol), which has been proven to build bonds between broken proteins within hair’s core (2)

  • The antioxidant, histidine, which protects hair’s inner protein structure from breakdown (3)

  • Pro-V Melting Pearls made of strengthening lipids that rebuild protein-supporting bonds in hair’s core (4)

Q. DOES PANTENE ABUNDANT & STRONG WORK FOR MY HAIR TYPE?

A. Pantene’s Abundant & Strong Collection has been tested across the range of hair types to be sure it delivers increased hair density, regardless of your hair type. A 6-week usage study was run with more than 50 women, including those with curly & coiled hair as well as those with wavy and straighter hair textures. This study showed that:

  • 77% of participants noticed less hair fall in 4 weeks .

  • 85% noticed an increase in hair density in 6 weeks.

The Abundant & Strong collection was designed to suit different hair routines. Here are tips for getting thicker, stronger hair with the Collection:

  1. For those who wash their hair once a week or less: Daily use of the Scalp Serum is especially important. Our scalps are constantly under oxidative stress, and the Abundant & Strong Scalp Serum provides your scalp and hair roots with a daily dose of clinically proven antioxidants, without requiring you to change how often you wash your hair. The serum's non-greasy, quick-drying formula can be applied between washes without disrupting or reverting your style.

  2. For those with drier, coarser hair that needs intense moisturization: Use your favorite leave-in moisturizing treatment after using the Abundant & Strong Collection. Pantene’s Regenerative Hair Oil is recommended for more textured hair, while Pantene’s Keratin Leave-In Repair Treatment is well-suited to wavy or moderately textured hair. Neither option will interfere with the root-strengthening benefist of the Abundant & Strong collection.
  3. For fine hair that is easily weighed down: Hydrate your hair with the Abundant & Strong Conditioner. Its lightweight formula strengthens hair, helping it resist breakage while also providing hydration.

  4. For those with color-treated or bleached hair: Rest assured that the Abundant & Strong Shampoo, Conditioner, and Daily Scalp & Root Serum are color-safe formulas.

Q. DOES PANTENE HAVE SAFE INGREDIENTS?

A. Yes, Pantene’s ingredients are thoroughly researched to ensure their safety for intended use. Pantene collaborates with hundreds of scientists to analyze every ingredient in its formulas, following the same rigorous processes as regulatory agencies worldwide, including the FDA, EPA, and World Health Organization. The Ingredient Safety Analysis involves the following steps:

  1. Assessing the safe range of use for each ingredient. Even substances like water and broccoli have defined safe ranges, so we must ensure that we know each ingredient’s range of use.

  2. Testing the ingredient within a formulation. This step verifies that the ingredient performs as intended for your hair and remains in the formula within the established safe range for our bodies and the environment.

  3. Conducting extensive tests on the final formula. Before a product is launched, we test the complete formula to ensure it delivers the desired experience while improving your hair's health, which is Pantene’s ultimate goal.
