Strong Hair=Stylin' Hair

Strength is a major attribute of healthy hair – the stronger, the better (and the more styling options!). But all that styling can diminish hair’s strength, and even worse, cause breakage. So to avoid the telltale signs of weakened hair – lack of shine, irregularity and split ends—here are our top tips for getting strong, do anything with it, hair.

  1. Start with a Strong Foundation
  2. Using the right shampoo and conditioner is key to building a base of healthy, strong hair. Seek shampoos and their damage-blocking technology are designed to help hair maintain strength against damage.

  3. Be Gentle!
  4. You don’t need to brush like a mad woman to get knot-free locks. Try brushing gently with a wide toothed comb when your hair is wet, from the bottom, up. Slowly working out the knots from the bottom up, will reduce pull on your hair which means less damage and breakage. But don’t worry if you see a few stray strands in your brush, it’s completely normal and healthy to lose, or shed, between 50 and 100 strands a day.

  5. Go Easy with the Heat
  6. In the ongoing love/hate relationship with heat, distance only makes the heart grow fonder. Heat styling causes micro-cracks that weaken its naturally strong structure. Take a break from heavy heat styling and try air-drying. If you’d rather give your right arm than give up your straightener, try letting your hair air dry until it’s 80 percent dry, before reaching for the blow dryer, and run straighteners quickly over strands.

Righting a few bad habits and using the right hair products will work wonders when getting the strong, healthy locks you’re after.  Plus, preserving the health of your hair by using the right products will not only promote health, but also give you a great base too.
